It's about time I make some damn games! Luckily I got myself a little familiar with Haxe/HaxeFlixel (for obvious reasons ofc). And I am a little experienced in Java (albeit VERY VERY rusty).

Seven months ago, I used to wonder what Newgrounds could be...

They're kinda awkward to look at ngl.

I stayed in the comfort zone of a particular style and I feel like it's kinda biting me in the ass now. My characters have never really been FNF OCs, they actually started out as Sonic OCs that became multi-fandom OCs that became simply just... whatever... OCs. It's just that FNF motivated me to draw humans more and to hate humanity a little less. Hell, it's what lead me to this wonderful community and a proper escape from whatever the hell Twitter and that side of the FNF community became. I would still be a cringe twitter artist if it weren't for FNF. Newgrounds I feel has redeemed me in a way. Almost like a reformed villain in a sense.

I can't remember when exactly I came up with Herra (my current mascot that initially was designed as a secondary mascot back when I mostly did Sonic-Related Content). But I know that I came up with her core idea in early 2021 (around January or so. I then started to draw her out in February and then revealed her in March). I don't remember if FNF kinda made me realize that I wanted a secondary mascot or if it was something I considered a little before discovering FNF in early January of 2021 (around when the game was gaining attention from the Sonic the Hedgehog community).

Also, my character design skills were all over the place at the time... Makes them hard to look at... Also, I did have interpreted FNF principles in mind when making a lot of the reworks (I guess that was part of the style replicating, but I also referred to the Pico's School universe a little bit as well). Hell, studying FNF taught me a lot about character design as a whole. But I don't know/remember exactly what my thought process was on them while drawing. I just kinda drew what I knew...

And as I said above, it kinda started biting me in the ass when I started to realize that people might start going like "this OC from FNF" or "your FNF OC" (The latter only happened once on Twitter, but it was enough to cause distress). And it didn't sit right with me. It almost felt like a stigma in a way (which I can't shake the feeling that FNF fan content or even FNF-inspired content is starting to get a little stigma. And I don't know why).

It doesn't help that those submissions were just earlier this year. I was 19 when joined Newgrounds and submitted several of them. Idk, it just kinda feels like an embarrassingly late age.

Anyway, sorry if this vent was a little deeper than I originally intended it to be. But it was just a lot that I wanted to get off my chest. I wish I could not worry so much about my characters' origins, but it's hard.

I am now ChromaCee since I like colors of all kinds! Also, Herra is taking over as my Main OC (at least that is my plan). Don't worry though. I will still keep Cherry around as a side character. :)

The decision isn't final, but I feel like my branding as MagentaCee is a little too restrictive on my creative freedom. I might end up changing my name to something that can give me a little more creative freedom. But again, nothing is final.

To elaborate a little bit, a color-based name such as MagentaCee might make me feel like I have to stick to magenta as a major color for my main OCs. And I'm not sure if magenta would fit the personality of those OCs.

I don't know. it's just a thought.
